February 24, 2021

This past week has been a very sad time for the Slowpitch Softball Community nationwide.. It has seen the likes of Denny Helmig who was responsible for the start of the incomparable Steele's Sports Company in the early part of the 1970's pass. Denny who was diagnosed in February of 2020 with Alzheimers and Dementia. Denny has been working in the Sporting Goods industry for over 50 years. He acomplished that with the likes of John Brenner, Gary Coats and himself. It has been one tough year for the Helmig family as they have all had to pitch in with this terrible disease...

Denny has been working in the Sporting Goods for the last 50 years working for Steele's Sports and then later on moving over to Worth and helping them to promote the Worth brand of equipment... Denny was the Nationnal Sales Manager for the last 10 years or so... Denny is urvived by his high school sweethear Poly and his 3 children Gavin (Alisha) Helmig, Lima; Dr. Sara Helmig, Memphis, TN;
Kara (Donovan Shuster) Helmig, Grand Forks, ND. He also has a number of grandchildren.. They are going to have a Celebration of Life for Denny Helmig will be Saturday March 27th 2021.
